Karla K. Dennis is a licensed Enrolled Agent, Business Consultant, and Founder of KDA, Inc. She's an enrolled agent licensed to represent taxpayers in all 50 states, and holds a Masters in Taxation. Known as America’s Tax Advisor, Karla has been featured in various media outlets such as CBS, KTLA, MSNBC, WSJ, Yahoo Finance, Market Watch, Schwab TV and various other outlets.
Her journey begins in a humble household in Compton, California, where she learned invaluable life lessons from her loving and hard-working parents. Growing up with two siblings, Karla absorbed the values of hard work, family unity, responsibility, integrity, and discipline. Instilled with the belief that present circumstances do not define the future, she envisioned a life beyond Compton, one she could create for herself and her family.
Karla graduated from Compton High School, laying the foundation for her future success. Taking a significant step forward, she earned a bachelor's degree in business with a concentration in accounting from California State Dominguez Hills. Post-graduation, Karla embarked on her professional journey, initially working as an admin with a tax law firm. Her interest in tax law deepened, leading her to pursue and obtain a Masters in Taxation from Golden Gate University. This pivotal decision propelled her into corporate America, where she thrived as a tax supervisor overseeing a team of eight employees.
In a bold move, Karla transitioned from corporate life to entrepreneurship, founding Karla Dennis and Associates in La Palma, California, in 2014. The firm, offering income tax preparation, tax planning as well as providing advice l to small and midsize business owners rapidly gained prominence. Forbes recognized Karla in 2016 as one of the nation's foremost financial and tax professionals, and she earned a feature in "Southern California Women Business Leaders."
During 2016, her sons Karlton and Kenneth joined the firm, contributing significantly to its growth. Karlton's tax strategy and social media presence, coupled with Kenneth's marketing prowess, elevated the firm's fame.
Her younger sons, Karrington and Kameron, also joined, with Kameron assuming the role of Client Service Manager and Karrington as a tax professional. The collaborative efforts of Karla and her four sons transformed the firm, now flourishing and impacting the lives of millions of Americans.
Fast forward to 2022, a rebranding took place, and Karla renamed her accounting firm to KDA, Inc., symbolizing the company’s renewed dedication to helping Americans save on taxes. The firm was recognized as one of Inc’s Magazine fastest-growing firms in 2022 and 2023.
Presently, Karla is leading KDA, sharing her insights at public events, and educating entrepreneurs and tax professionals on business advancement. Karla is actively engaging with business leaders, executive organizations, trade groups, and community gatherings.
Due to her unwavering commitment to giving back, Karla provides free tax advice on live television, contributing to national and local news channels.
